Resit – if you failed your first attempt

If you did not pass an exam at your first attempt, you are responsible for registering to resit it. The attempt counts only when you resit the exam at the first available opportunity.

If you fail your resit, the grade you achieved at your first attempt will stand.

Please note that you will normally have three (3) attempts to pass the same exam.

If you are expecting to be given an individual exam date and time, you will find this on Studentweb approx. one week before the first exam day in that subject. Go to “Aktive emner” (active subjects). Click on the subject concerned to see detailed information.

Step-by-step guide to registering for a resit via Studentweb

• Step-by-step guide

  - Log into Studentweb

  - Go to the menu item “Resultater” (results), and check the box for “Alle resultater” (all results).

  - Find the subject you want to retake the exam for. Press the button “Ta emnet på nytt” (resit the exam), and check the box for “Ønsker ikke undervisning” (don’t want tuition), then “Tid og form - meld opp til vurdering” (time and format – register for assessment).

  - A drop-down menu will show you the first opportunity you have to take the exam. Select that date and your registration will be confirmed.

  - Go to “Aktive emner” (active subjects) and check that your registration is included there. Delete the work requirements you have already been credited for. To delete the work requirements, press “Rediger” (edit).

  - See the sample image below, which shows what it should look like of you have registered correctly. It should show the exam date.

  NB: You cannot deregister yourself via Studentweb.
  If you want to deregister to take the exam, you must do so no later than 14 days prior to the exam date.

  Use the separate exam deregistration form.

  If you fail or do not show up to a resit, the grade you achieved at your first attempt will stand.

Exam registration by form

• In some cases you cannot use Studentweb to register for an exam. This applies:

  - If you did not show up to the first ordinary exam

  - If you are registering to take the exam for the third time

  - If you have been randomly selected to take an exam, such as SOPF10 or KRYR30

  - If you are registering the submission of your master’s dissertation

  - If you have received your final certificate, but want to improve a grade

  In these cases, use the separate exam registration form.
