«Speak Up!»

«Speak Up!»: A practice-oriented research project on the prevention of Sexual Harassment (SUSH) is positioned in the ethical infrastructure tradition (Tenbrunsel et al., 2003) and targets bystanders, whose actions may affect sexual harrasment situations positively or negatively.

The main aim of SUSH is to develop and test the effects of theory- and research-based bystander Sexual Harassment interventions in close partnership with working life actors across three Nordic settings (Denmark, Sweden and Norway). An expected effect of the SUSH interventions is increased awareness of the negative consequences of passive or colluding bystander behavior and of risk situations for SH. A long-term outcome of SUSH in continuing projects will be to provide empirically tested SH interventions to be used by workplaces in Nordic countries.

The Norwegian part of the project will compile documentation on existing efforts on prevention and intervention of Sexual Harassment in the Norwegian Police Service and at the Norwegian University College, and start to culturally adapt the Danish bystander intervention ”Intervene-SH” with a focus on the characteristics of the involved persons (e.g., intersectionality) and the organization (police).
