Head of Section, Post graduate studies

Experience and background

I have a PhD in criminology from the University of Oslo as well as a Master’s degree in welfare sciences from the Lillehammer University College. For several years, I also worked as a social worker. My research looks at areas in fields like crime prevention, drug rehabilitation, professional interdisciplinary collaboration and organisation, leadership and management. My most recent project explored how the contradictory ideals of punishment on the one hand and welfare state services on the other are balanced in the treatment of imprisoned drug users. Currently my research is focusing on police students' perceived learning outcome when participating in digital studies. Since 2003, I have headed different scientific/academic groups at both the University College of Norwegian Correctional Service (KRUS) and the Norwegian Police University College.
