Suitability assessment

All applicants to Politihøgskolen must complete a digital suitability assessment. The first part of the assessment consists of three tests and a video interview where you record answers to questions

How is the suitability assessment conducted?

In April, you must complete three digital tests and a video interview.

The digital tests consist of one personality test and two tests of analytical ability. The video interview consists of predefined questions, where you record your answers.

The Police Academy has its own admissions committees responsible for assessing whether you are suitable for admission to the police academy.

Basic Assessment

If you have been called in for physical tests and pass them, the admissions committee will evaluate your tests and video interview—this is called the "basic assessment." Based on these, the committee will either find you suitable or decide that they need an extended interview with you.

Extended Interview

For all applicants about whom the admissions committee is uncertain, an extended interview will be conducted. If this applies to you, you will receive a separate invitation for the extended interview, and you must register for it yourself. The extended interview is conducted on Teams and is carried out by a member of the admissions committee.

The admissions committee makes an overall assessment of how you have performed on the various assessment methods included in the suitability assessment. If the admissions committee finds you suitable, you are in the competition for a study place. If the committee determines that you are not suitable, you will receive a rejection of your application for admission to the police academy. Rejections are sent out in the first week of July.

What is measured through the suitability assessment?

The purpose of the suitability assessment is to measure your potential to complete the police academy and later serve in the police force.

Through the suitability assessment, you are evaluated against six competencies. These competencies are:

Openness and Inclusion: You show respect and curiosity towards diversity and are actively inclusive.

Collaboration: You work well with others, show empathy, and have good communication skills.

Maturity: You appear confident, engaged, trustworthy, and show self-control in demanding situations.

Initiative: You are a structured and decisive person who takes responsibility, makes independent judgments, and shows courage.

Analytical Ability: You demonstrate the ability to learn and to see the essence in a complex presentation. You are reflective and make rational judgments.

Integrity: You are able to act and behave in a factual manner and according to high ethical standards. The assessment of integrity includes any information from police systems and registers.
