Admission requirements
Applicants must document meeting the admission requirements in order to be eligible for a study place.
Higher Education Entrance Qualification
The general basis for admission to universities and university colleges in Norway is called Higher Education Entrance Qualification. This can be obtained in several different ways, but the most common way is by documenting upper secondary education.
For more information about the Higher Education Entrance Qualification see General requirements (samordnaopptak.no).
For country-specific documentation requirements see the GSU-list (hkdir.no).
Applicants that do not meet the requirements for Higher Education Entrance Qualification may apply on the basis of prior learning and work experience.
English proficiency
For some applicants, additional documentation of English language proficiency is required. For more information on this requirement, see English language requirements (samordnaopptak.no) and Language Requirements (hkdir.no) for country-specific information.
Applicants applying on the basis of prior learning must also document English language proficiency.
Other requirements
Some courses may have requirements in addition to Higher Education Entrance Qualification and English language proficiency.
Please check the course description of each course before applying. Information about specific admission requirements for each of our courses is available on the course's web page.
The Application Process
Register an application in Søknadsweb
The application must be registered in the application portal Søknadsweb.
Sign in to Søknadsweb and select "New Application" and "Post-graduate Studies."
Choose the course you wish to apply to from the drop-down menu below.
- You will find the Nordic Computer Forensic Investigators modules under "Ordinary Application Process" and the Digital Forensics modules under "Courses with Rolling Admission."
You must select an application alternative and your country of residence.
Regarding the registration of mobile number
Some European countries format their mobile numbers like this: 070 1234567.
- When entering the country code (e.g., for Sweden, "+46"), the leading "0" should be replaced with "+46," so the number becomes "+46 701234567."
Upon registering a mobile number in Søknadsweb, the country code will be added automatically. It is important that you do not enter your mobile number with the leading "0" in Søknadsweb.
Upload the required documentation
You upload documents under the "My Documents" tab in Søknadsweb.
As an applicant you are responsible for uploading the required documents. Your application will be rejected if the required documents are not uploaded by the deadline.
Note: You will find the admission requirements for every course on the web page of each respective course.

Please be advised that a CV or an employment contract is never sufficient documentation for any admission requirement.

As of 15 August 2024, the following countries have partnership agreements with The Norwegian Police University College:
- Denmark
- Sweden
- Finland
- Iceland
- Germany
- The Netherlands
- Poland
- Portugal
- Spain
- Lithuania

For Employers
About the nomination process
There are several ways to apply for admission to continuing and further education courses at The Norwegian Police University College. The most common way is the "ordinary admission process". For an applicant to be granted a study place in a course with ordinary admission, the applicant must be nominated by their employer.
Therefore, employers must establish a nomination procedure for their employees.
Read about the nomination procedure and how to establish a nomination procedure
Note that employers outside the Norwegian Police Service refer to countries that have an established partnership with the Norwegian Police University College.
Nominations should not be submitted for programs that do not require them, such as the course Confiscation and Financial Tracing.
How to nominate employees
The applicant must be nominated by their employer and be prioritized high enough on the nomination list to be allocated one of the study places assigned to their employer. The nomination list must include the required information for each nominated applicant.
For education programs with multiple cohorts, the employer may choose to submit a combined recommendation for all cohorts. This arrangement assumes that it does not matter to the employer which cohort the applicants are assigned to. Programs with two or more cohorts can be found in the overview of announced continuing and further education programs.

How to submit the nomination list
The nomination list must be submitted by the liaison on behalf of employees seeking admission. Use the nomination template provided by the Norwegian Police University College.
The nominations should be sent collectively by the liaison in an email to opptakEVU@phs.no. Submissions that do not follow the format and good archiving practices will be returned.
Application forms and CVs used in the internal application process of the employer should not be forwarded to the Norwegian Police University College. These are only for your internal use when making a nomination list.
