Appeals regarding procedural errors

Formal errors are mistakes made during the actual administration of the exam or in the grading process, such as errors in the exam questions or the conditions in the exam room.

Appeal for formal errors

If you believe that there have been errors during the exam that have affected your performance or grading, you can appeal for formal errors. You can appeal for formal errors in all types of exams: oral, written, practical, and internships.

If errors have been made that could have affected your performance during the exam or the assessment of it, the grading decision will be annulled. If the error is corrected by re-grading, the answer will be re-graded. If the error cannot be corrected by re-grading, the exam will be conducted again. This means that the exam is annulled.

How to appeal for formal errors

You must submit a written appeal to postmottak@phs.no. The appeal must include the following:

  • Date of the appeal
  • Your name
  • Which exam you believe has formal errors
  • What formal errors have been made

You have three weeks from when you became or should have become aware of what you believe is a formal error. Processing time is four weeks.

What happens to the result during processing?

The exam result will be blocked as long as the appeal is being processed. If the appeal is not upheld, you retain the result. If the appeal is upheld, either a new grading will be conducted, or the exam will be annulled, and you will have to retake the exam. If the exam is annulled, you have not used an attempt.
