Second Year of Study: B2
In the second year at Politihøgskolen you will be an intern and apply much of what you learned in the first year. You will have a personal mentor whom you follow in shifts in a police district. Even though you are interning, you will also need to complete assignments and write papers, making the second year both very exciting and quite demanding.
What You Will Learn
In the second year of police education, you will learn to actively participate in investigative work, perform various investigative tasks, and reflect on the methods used. You will also engage in preventive police work, carry out preventive tasks, and evaluate your own professional practice. Further development of the understanding of the police role and police practices is central, along with the development of operational skills for safe and effective task resolution, including training in emergency driving. In the police patrol course, you gain practical experience in all aspects of patrol service, from planning to execution and evaluation of tasks.
You Can Get an Internship Anywhere In Norway
Your internship is assigned by Politihøgskolen. Norway has 12 police districts, and you can be placed in any of them. When you are about to start your internship, you will have the opportunity to submit your preferences, but you do not have the right to be placed at your desired location.
Two Weeks in Camp
At the beginning of the school year, you will spend two weeks in camp, either in Stavern or Kongsvinger. Here, you will learn tactics, weapon handling, and emergency driving.
Apply for An Exchange Program
In the second year, you can intern at a police education institution abroad, the Police Council's office at the UN, or another relevant international partner.
