Background and experience
Professor
I have a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Studies of professional practice at Nord University and a master's degree in pedagogy/school research. The doctoral dissertation (2011) is about operational policing in a phenomenological-hermeneutic perspective and is based on field observations and in-depth interviews of experienced police officers. Now I conduct qualitative research on police crisis management/crisis management from different perspectives and with different focus. I investigate the police's professional development through education and experiences. I have led two major evaluations of the Police Academy's Staff and Leadership Development Program through field observations during national and local emergency preparedness exercises and in-depth interviews with staff members, police chiefs and operations leaders. Additionally, I lead the research group Intelligence in the police: practice, education and training. I work as a co-editor in the journal Nordic Journal of Studies in Policing. I supervise doctoral, master and bachelor students.
