Background and experience

With a background in the police, many years of work with border control at Oslo Airport and the Police Directorate, and the EU's largest border control agency, Frontex, I now mainly work with development and teaching within the subject areas and responsibilities related to the police's border checks and border surveillance at the external borders. Cooperation with the EU through the Schengen Agreement is central to this field. The field is multidisciplinary, encompassing areas such as intelligence, crime prevention, investigation, prosecution, emergency preparedness, development and implementation of new technology, risk analysis, innovation, human rights, migration, leadership, and inter-agency cooperation. I have a particular focus on how this field is governed politically and strategically through the concept of integrated border management from the European to the national level.
