Background and experience
I hold a cand.scient. degree with a major in sport sciences and a specialization in coaching and the coach–athlete role from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. I also have studies in basic pedagogical competence, pedagogy, guidance pedagogy, sport psychology, and other school subjects. At the Norwegian Police University College, my work focuses on physical training, first aid, and skills that are central to police professional education.
My background as an active athlete for more than 40 years forms an important part of my professional foundation and provides experience-based insight that has direct relevance for daily teaching and supervision. I have a strong interest in how physical capacity, load, and adaptation influence both health and performance in operational and non-operational personnel, and how these factors shape functional requirements in police service. I am also engaged in learning design, active learning, and game‑based learning/gamification, with a particular emphasis on teaching approaches that make students active, engaged, and responsible participants in their own learning process. I am currently engaged in the qualification process for promotion to Associate Professor.
