Background and experience
I am a professor (PhD) in Leadership and Organizational Behaviour. My areas of expertise include police leadership at all levels, including investigative leadership, on-scene commands, crisis leadership, the police as a learning organisation, change management, and knowledge- and experience-based policing. My research is characterized by qualitative methods and fieldwork, aimed at studying practical leadership and policing in practice, with particular emphasis on my areas of expertise. I have written 12 books – all from a practice-oriented perspective – with the goal of reducing the gap between theory and practice.
