Legal framework for the police's use of firearms

Duration
–
Project type
PhD project
Affiliation
Department of Joint Operative Disciplines

The purpose of the project is to investigate the legal framework for the police's use of firearms, especially where these frameworks in practice turn out to be unclear.

The main project is to make a legal dogmatic analysis of certain legal issues related to the police's use of firearms. The project focuses on the parts of the regulations that have not previously been sufficiently investigated, and for which feedback is received that there is uncertainty associated with it.

The project is associated with an interdisciplinary research project, where we investigate how the rules for the use of firearms are applied in a simulated high-risk armed mission. In this project, we also look at which factors effects the specific assignment solution of the individual police student or police officer.
