This is what we offer
A systematic literature search is about getting an overview of what has already been written within a field. We achieve this by finding as much relevant literature as possible. It is a time-consuming task that requires expertise in search techniques and knowledge of various information sources. The searches are conducted by one or two librarians, in close collaboration with the requester.
No search assignment is the same, and what is included in the delivery is agreed upon each time. The most comprehensive searches include:
- Suggestions for relevant databases and information sources.
- Thoroughly developed search strategy.
- Searches in relevant sources.
- Delivery of search documentation, references in the agreed format (e.g., EndNote library), and full-text articles.
- Suggestions for a text about the literature search that can be included in project applications or reports.
This is what you need to contribute
We need your help at all stages of the search:
At the start of the search
- The scope/timeframe of the project or task.
- Relevant search terms.
- Relevant sources (databases/websites).
- Relevant limitations.
- Relevant references.
During the search
- Adjustment of search terms and limitations after initial searches.
- Assessment of the relevance of the results.
When the search is completed
- A concluding dialogue about the final results, with the delivery of the complete search work.
- Selection of references (done by the requester with possible guidance from the librarian in the screening tool).
Attribution
A systematic literature search contributes to the quality and helps place a project in a larger context. It is therefore common to highlight this contribution by crediting the librarians who have conducted the search.
