Campus Alta

You can pursue police education in Alta. The program is full-time and a combination of online and in-person sessions. Each semester in the first and third years, you will spend four weeks in Alta, experiencing student life and the great outdoor opportunities in the city and surrounding area. The sessions will be held at UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Alta.

Campus

The Police Academy has a campus at UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Alta. Here you will find a practice apartment, gymnasium and strength room, cafeteria, auditorium, classrooms, group rooms, library, and reading room.

Training Facilities

Campus Alta has excellent training facilities, including a strength room and sports hall. Additionally, it is close to nature and beautiful hiking trails. Swimming training mostly takes place at Nordlysbadet in Alta city center.

Food and Drink

Students in Alta can take advantage of the spacious Kantine Altagjord, centrally located on campus. Here you can get nutritious, good, and healthy food. The cafeteria offers both hot and cold lunches, a salad buffet, grilled dishes, fruits, and vegetables. At the main entrance, you will also find Grut coffee bar where you can get delicious pastries, barista coffee, and many other treats.

Student Life in Alta

Student Welfare Organization

The student welfare organizations offer a range of welfare services for students. As a student at the Police Academy, you are entitled to use the services provided by the welfare organization after you have paid your semester fee. Note that the semester fee goes to the student welfare organization you belong to, not to the Police Academy.

If you study in Alta, you can use the services of Norges arktiske studentsamskipnad. There you will find information about housing, food and drink, advice and health, student life, and daycare.

How to Get Here

You can travel to Alta by plane, car, bus, and boat. The airport is located just outside the city center. Read more about how to get to Alta here.

UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Alta is located just under 1 km outside the city center. You can get here by taking bus number 40 or 41 (get off at the UiT Arctic University stop). It takes about 13 minutes to walk from the city center.
