Experience and background

I am an Associate Professor and have researched the police patrol's encounters with children on assignments where there is a suspicion of domestic violence. The questions that the dissertation seeks answers to are what the police officers experience could be helpful to abused children, but also what challenges and problems arise in the patrol's encounter with the children. The dissertation is part of an interdisciplinary, humanistic professional tradition. I have a master's degree in psychology from NTNU and have been a teacher at the Police Academy since 2002. I have a background as a pedagogical psychological advisor in the PP service, focusing on children's development, interaction, learning difficulties and how to stimulate a supportive learning environment at school. I am co-editor and co-author of the book «Violence against children - theoretical, legal and practical approaches» and co-author of the book «Communication and conflict management». I have published various academic texts on the topic of violence against children and is currently a member of the research group "Police methods in change" and "Police professional research methodology".
