Professor

Experience and background

I am a professor at the University of Oslo (UiO) and head there of the "Centre for Extremism Research" (C-REX). I have a part-time position as professor of police science at the Norwegian Police University College (main position from 2004 to 2016). I have a major in social anthropology from UiO and a PhD from Leiden University. Most important contribution to police science: Initiated and led the project "Recruitment, Education and Careers in the Police: A European Longitudinal Study". Development of a holistic model for crime prevention (two books published in Norwegian, English, Chinese and Georgian). Led a international comparative research and book project on "Vigilantism against Migrants and Minorities". Now I lead the project "Nordic Multiagency Approaches to Handling Extremism: Policies, Perceptions and Practices".
