Experience and background
Since the mid 1970s I have conducted applied police research, i.e., research for and with the police. Early on, I began making evaluations to measure effects of police activities. I have been guided by two overarching theoretical traditions, namely situational crime prevention and problem-oriented policing. The aim of the most recent publications is to further development of problem-oriented policing (Advances in Evidence Based Policing) and crowd control (Preventing Crowd Violence).
