Exemptions and adjustments

Should the time needed to process your request exceed 4 weeks, you will receive a provisional answer from us stating that we have received your request and indicating how long it will take to process.

Exemption and crediting

• If you are given an exemption/credit for something, it means that you will not have to take it again.

  If we grant you an exemption/credit for an exam result, etc., it means that we consider it so similar to what you would have taken at the NPUC (in terms of content, scope and level), that you do not have to take it again here.

  You can apply for credit for subjects, modules, exams or tests you have passed, if you can produce documentation from equivalent educational establishments. You can also apply for exemption from parts of the course on the basis of documented prior relevant education/training.

  Our assessment of whether your education/training can be credited is based on the descriptions of the learning outcomes specified in the course curriculum.

  You must follow the educational programme until you have been granted an exemption or been credited for a previous exam.

  Please note that an exemption/credit may reduce the amount of financial support you receive from Lånekassen (Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund), so it is important that you check with Lånekassen before you apply for exemption/credit.

Adjustment of the study situation and exams

• If you have a disability or special needs, you may be entitled to individual adjustments to the school premises, method of teaching, teaching materials and exams.

  By disability, we mean the loss of, or injury to a body part or bodily functions. By special needs, we mean physical, psychosocial or learning challenges.

  For example, if you can document that you have dyslexia, you may be granted accommodations throughout your period of study at NPUC.

  You cannot be granted adjustments that are so extensive that they would reduce the level of attainment required for the course to which you have been admitted.

Physical training

• The “Physical training” exam:

  If you are injured or become ill 14 days before the exam, and this is documented by means of a medical certificate, this is counted as a valid reason for absence from the exam. You will therefore still have the full complement of three attempts to pass the exam.

Use of the digital mailbox

• How to use the digital mailbox:

  When sending messages from your digital mailbox by means of a mobile phone or tablet, you must log into Digipost via your browser. Do not use the app.

  When you are logged in to your digital mailbox, you must select the recipient. Start by typing Pol... The name Politihøgskolen (NPUC) will come up as a suggestion.

  When you have sent a message to us via Digipost, you will not receive an automated confirmation that we have received it. However, you can check the “sent” folder to see that you have sent something to the NPUC.
