Digital exams

Digital exams require you to have your own laptop computer (PC or Mac). Use of tablet devices is not permitted. Approved operating systems are Windows and macOS.

You are responsible for ensuring that your computer and any associated equipment is in working order and that the latest operating system and latest updates have been installed.

If you are not sure how to update your machine, you will find IT guidance on Canvas. Alternatively, contact the IT department.

Digital oral exams

• Well ahead of the exam

  Digital oral exams are conducted via the Zoom application.

  Download the app “Zoom Client for Meetings”.

  Use the log in routine for the exam:
  • Log into the app using SSO.
  • The company domain is politihogskolen.
  • This will open a website where you log in with your Feide username.

  The exam must be conducted on a PC or MAC computer. Use of a mobile phone or tablet device is not recommended. The student is responsible for any technical problems arising in connection with the use of equipment not approved by the NPUC.

  You must make sure that your equipment is updated to the latest stable version. If necessary, turn off automated updating, so that it does not commence during the exam.

  You must be connected to a stable network. Make sure you are in a well-lit and undisturbed setting. The examiners must be able to see and hear you.
  The date and time of your exam will be posted on Studentweb.

   

• During the exam

  Log into the Zoom app (use SSO and your Feide log in). You must do this at least 5 minutes before your exam starts.

  The examiner will call you up on Zoom when your exam is due to start, and you will be invited into the Zoom room where the examiners are located.

  There may be delays, in which case the examiner will notify you by phone. So make sure your mobile phone has enough power and is within reach.

  When the exam begins, you will be asked to show valid proof of identity (student ID card/photo ID).

  If technical problems for which you are not responsible arise, you may be entitled to resit the exam at another time.

  If technical problems should arise in connection with the exam, phone the IT department on +47 23 19 99 99.

   

• After the exam

  During the exam, the examiner will tell you when you will receive your grade.

  This may be either immediately after the exam or at an agreed later date. It is only at this point that you can request an explanation of the grade given. You must be available by phone during this period. Make sure you have entered the correct phone number on Studentweb.

  It is not possible to appeal the grade you receive for an oral exam.
  Your grade will be posted on Studentweb after all the students have completed the exam.

   

Written at-home exam

• Before the exam

  Before the at-home exam, you should have tried out the demo exam on Inspera.

  You will receive no extra exam time if you have forgotten your password.

  To complete a mock exam, log in to Inspera with your username and password.

  Log in to Inspera.

  Take the demo exam.

  If you have forgotten your password, or it does not work, you must reset your password using the self-service portal.

  Contact the IT department if you are unable to reset your password. Send an e-mail from your @phs.no address to it@phs.no.

• On the day of the exam

  You will find the exam by logging into Inspera and clicking on “Mine prøver” (my exams).

  Read the exam text carefully. Here you will find information about how the exam is to be carried out and when you can contact your subject teacher for clarification of any questions you may have.

  It is important that you follow the instructions given. This also applies to the format your exam response is to be delivered in. When uploading files, PDF is practically the only usable format.

  If the exam has been changed from an in-school exam to an at-home exam, you must not upload files. Abide by the information provided in the subject’s pages on Canvas. In SAMETIKK01, you must write your answer in the text field beneath the questions – i.e. the assignment type “long answer”. You will find an example of what a long-answer assignment looks like on Inspera, under “Demoprøver” – oppgave 2 (Demo tests – assignment 2). In this exam, there is no file-upload assignment type.

  Guide to deleting personal data

  You must remember to delete personal data from the file before you submit it, so that your response remains anonymous. The filename should preferably be the name of the subject and your student ID no.

  Remember to upload your response before the exam period comes to an end.
